Theatre and Folk Masks from the New Forest

False Faces is an artisanal mask studio making, training and performing with theatrical masks and puppets. Each piece is handcrafted in leather or wood, or produced using hybrid craft-and-digital techniques, designed as functional objects for the stage.

Every design is developed through rehearsal, workshop and performance, then refined in response. I work within the traditions of Lecoq pedagogy and Commedia dell'Arte theatre, as well as creating designs to meet the needs of specific productions.

My masks and puppets bring continental European traditions together with English heritage and folklore, drawing in particular on the history, landscape and culture of the New Forest and England's south coast.
